Hemingway House Bed & Breakfast
in St. Augustine, Florida

The Hemingway House Bed and Breakfast is perfectly situated on Charlotte Street in the heart of the charming and unique town of St. Augustine.  The owner delivers the ultimate adult-centric, romantic bed and breakfast experience with impeccably clean rooms and all the amenities you expect to make your stay as relaxed and comfortable as possible.

If there ever were a city to bring out the writer in you, expect in the nation’s oldest (and smallest) city to do so. So it’s not Paris, but so many people have either brought us a story, or wrote their own right here. For instance, you will learn that each of our six guest rooms are on the second-floor, and feature a shared covered balcony (perfect for writing a few lines and catching the bay breezes wafting down Charlotte Street), and each room has modern private baths, and a comfortable Queen or King bed. But did you know a friend of the owners wrote the room descriptions on a dare? There is a story.  And sure, we begin each evening with a casual wine social-hour giving guest’s time to meet the owners and their fellow guests.  But do you know how many stories of Hemingway, or a derivative there of, is told each night? Let me tell you the one about Rodger Shadow. Come on! Others have written the story of their life at the Hemingway House, so why can’t you?

This delightful area in the heart of downtown St. Augustine by day, features brick lined streets, vine-covered courtyards and friendly restaurants and shops, where long-time residents sit behind the counters selling interesting and unique goods. And by night, this area in downtown St. Augustine features your choice of music from the many venues along Charlotte St. from Jazz at Stogies, to traditional Irish at Meehan’s Pub, to folk/country/rock at the historic Tradewinds Lounge; to the Tini Martini Bar, and the cutest little cigar bar in St. Augustine: Isabela's Bar Cuba, all are on or near our festive little street. Whatever you might like, you'll relish the exceptional flavors of this charming European-style old-world village, unlike any other place in the States. *Please note that rooms 3 & 4 face Charlotte St and thus might hear more of the liveliness than the other rooms.

Founded by Spaniards in 1565 (over 450 years ago), St. Augustine has a rich cultural history and is known as the “Ancient City.”  Guests will enjoy touring Castillo de San Marcos, the Lightner Museum, and Fort Matanzas.
